What is AGI?

The term ‘AGI’, or Artificial General Intelligence refers to computer systems that can learn and reliably perform any cognitive task, including novel ones, that a smart human can. Importantly, it needs to be able to do this in real time, with limited time and resources. AGI promises to usher in an era of radical abundance and human flourishing – even more beneficial than electricity.

What is the Direct Path?

DARPA talks about ‘The Three Waves of AI’: RuleBased, Statistical, and Cognitive AI. AGI cannot be achieved via purely big data, statistical means; it requires a cognitive approach.

Solving AGI needs to start with a deep understanding of what makes human intelligence so powerful. That is the most direct path.
